Lekki i przyjemny  jak aktualna pora roku. A że owoców w bród i sama coś tam piekę to tu to tam, film sam mi się nienachlanie nasunął.

Mam ogromną słabość do zdjęć z góry zarówno w fotografii jak i w filmie, więc sam początek, a i późniejsze wstawki na proces przygotowywania ciasta, ulokował mnie w delikatnym zachwycie i oczekiwaniu. … czekoladowe chipsy, brzoskwinie, jabłka, krem kakaowy, czekolada ciemna i gęsta… wiśnie, banany… w czekoladzie… CZYTAJ DALEJ

Light and pleasurable like summer. Since there is a plenty of fruit, I like to bake from time to time. This film suited me perfectly and I laid my hands on it gladly. I have a weakness for pictures taken from above, both in photography and in film. That’s why I took delight in the very beginning as well as later bits showing the process of making the cake which made me want more. Chocolate crisps, peaches, apples, cocoa cream, dark chocolate and cherries, bananas in chocolate.

The sweetness of the cakes and other delicious things prepared by Jenny contrasts with her gloomy reality of an unwanted pregnancy, an unwanted child, an affair with her own gynae. Overwhelmed with her misfortunes and troubles she invents new cake recipes.

 Recently baking cakes have become for me a kind of meditation, stress relief relaxation and activities. When the tension reaches its peak and it can’t be worse I dash for the kitchen to bake something. Sometimes the cake goes bad but there is always the puff effect which is what I need most.

I like to think and talk about food. Perhaps my language is not as flowery as Joe’s (the bar owner’s where Jenna works) so I like to listen about food as well:

“I think about it as I’m waking up. Could solve all the problems with the world, that pie.

You’re making too much of it. It’s just a pie.

Just a pie? It’s downright expert. A thing of beauty. How each flavour opens itself, one by one, like a chapter in a book. First the flavour of an exotic spice hits you, just a hint of it. And then you’re flooded with chocolate, dark and bittersweet, like an old love affair. And finally, strawberry; the way strawberry was always supposed to taste, but never knew how.”

And how can you spend the day without a cake? The only thing that can compensate the lack of the cake is this:

 “Dear Baby, I hope someday somebody wants to hold you for 20 minutes straight and that’s all they do. They don’t pull away. They don’t look at your face. They don’t try to kiss you. All they do is wrap you up in their arms and hold on tight, without an ounce of selfishness to it.” The best balm for your worries.

Now I can only write how.
